Lake Como Day Trip Itinerary
You’ll be picked up from your hotel in a Mercedes V-Class by your private driver and guide, then head north out of Milan toward Lake Como. It doesn’t take long before the city gives way to a more open, scenic drive, with the lake coming into view as you get closer.Â
Scenic Drive: Milan to Lake Como
The drive from Milan to Lake Como takes around an hour, but the change in scenery is noticeable as you move away from the city.
As you get closer to the lake, the road begins to follow the water, with views across the lake framed by hills and mountains. The shoreline is dotted with villas, small towns, and boat traffic moving across the water. Your driver can stop where possible, giving you time to step out and take in the views rather than just passing through.
Como Town: Waterfront & Historic Center

Arrive in Como, one of the main towns on the lake, set right on the water with mountains rising behind it.
You’ll have time to walk along the lakefront, pass through the main square, and see how the town is laid out. The setting here gives you your first real sense of Lake Como, with boats coming and going and the surrounding landscape visible from almost every point along the waterfront.
Ferry Crossing: Lake Views from the Water

From Como, take a ferry across the lake, one of the standout parts of the day.
As the boat moves out, the views open up across the wide, calm water, with elegant villas set into the green hillsides, small lakeside towns along the shore, and steep mountains rising behind them. The light on the water, the changing angles, and the open space give you a much clearer sense of the lake than you get from the road.
This crossing also breaks up the journey, taking you directly to Bellagio while giving you time to take in the setting.
Bellagio: Views & Narrow Streets

Arrive in Bellagio, one of the best-known towns on Lake Como.
Set at the point where the lake splits, Bellagio offers views in multiple directions across the water. You’ll have time to walk through the town, moving between narrow streets, small shops, and open viewpoints looking out across the lake.
The layout makes it easy to explore at your own pace, with plenty of spots to stop along the way.
Lunch Break: Bellagio by the Lake

Stop for lunch in Bellagio.
You’ll sit down at a restaurant overlooking the water, with time to relax and take in the surroundings. Your guide can recommend a place depending on what you feel like, keeping it simple and well-located.
Scenic Drive: Lake Como Shoreline
After lunch, continue with a scenic drive along the lake.
This stretch follows the shoreline closely, with the road winding past villas, small harbors, and quiet sections of the lake. The views change constantly as you move along, with your driver and guide stopping at selected points where it’s worth getting out for photos.
Return to Milan
In the afternoon, begin the return journey to Milan.
The route is designed to make the most of your time at the lake before heading back to the city, with the drive offering one last stretch of lake and mountain views.
