From ancient history and hands-on food experiences to countryside adventures and Venice’s canals, the route has been planned to balance sightseeing with plenty of time to relax and enjoy each destination.

Day 1: Rome Arrival & Historic Center

Day 1 description
After arriving in Rome, your private guide will meet your family and transfer you into the city to begin your time in Italy. Once checked into your accommodation, head out for an easy first afternoon exploring the historic center on foot.
Walk through areas around Piazza Navona and the Pantheon while your guide helps you get to know the city. Along the way, stop for coffee, snacks, or gelato while passing fountains, piazzas, churches, and busy Roman streets.
The first day is intentionally kept fairly relaxed after your arrival flight, allowing everyone time to settle in and adjust before the sightseeing begins properly.
Day 2: Colosseum & Ancient Rome

Day 2 description
Today your private guide will take you into the heart of Ancient Rome for a guided visit to the Colosseum. Visiting with a guide helps bring the history to life for both adults and children, explaining gladiator battles, Roman emperors, and how the amphitheater was used thousands of years ago.
After exploring inside the Colosseum, continue around the surrounding ancient ruins with views over the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill before heading back into the city center.
The afternoon stays fairly flexible, with time for lunch, shorter walking routes, or breaks depending on your family’s pace and interests.
Day 3: Vatican City & Trastevere

Day 3 description
This morning, visit Vatican City with your private guide, starting at St Peter’s Basilica before continuing through the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Your guide will help manage the route through the museums while pointing out major artworks and historic highlights along the way.
Later in the afternoon, continue into Trastevere, one of Rome’s most family-friendly neighborhoods for walking and dinner. The area is filled with narrow streets, small piazzas, restaurants, bakeries, and cafés, making it a good place for a more relaxed afternoon after the Vatican visit.
Spend the evening enjoying dinner in Trastevere before returning to your accommodation.
Day 4: Tuscany Day Trip from Rome

Day 4 description
Today your private guide will take your family out of Rome and into the Tuscan countryside for the day. The drive passes vineyards, olive groves, small villages, and rolling hills before arriving in Siena.
Spend time exploring Siena’s historic center on foot with your private guide, including Piazza del Campo and the surrounding streets lined with cafés, bakeries, gelato shops, and local stores. The city is compact and easy to walk around, making it a good change of pace from the busier streets of Rome.
After lunch, continue through smaller Tuscan towns and countryside roads before returning to Rome later in the evening.
Day 5: Rome to Florence

Day 5 description
Today, travel north to Florence using Italy’s high-speed train network before meeting your private guide on arrival in the city. After checking into your accommodation, head into Florence’s historic center to begin exploring on foot.
Start around the Florence Cathedral area before walking through some of the nearby streets, piazzas, and local food shops with your guide. Florence is much smaller than Rome, making it easier to explore at a comfortable pace with family.
Later in the day, join a family pizza-making class where everyone can take part in preparing their own Italian pizza from scratch. You’ll learn how the dough is made, choose toppings, and cook the pizzas in a traditional oven before sitting down together to eat what you’ve prepared.
After the class, sit down together and enjoy the pizzas you’ve made before returning to your accommodation for the evening.
Day 6: Pisa & Lucca Day Trip

Day 6 description
Today your private guide will take you out of Florence for a family-friendly day trip through Tuscany. Begin in Pisa, where you’ll spend time around Piazza dei Miracoli seeing the Leaning Tower, cathedral, and baptistery.
After time for photos and walking around the square, continue onward to Lucca, a smaller Tuscan city surrounded by historic walls. Families often enjoy Lucca because the streets are quieter and easier to walk through than larger Italian cities.
Spend time exploring the town center, local cafés, and shops before returning to Florence later in the afternoon.
Day 7: Florence to Venice

Day 7 description
This morning, travel by high-speed train from Florence to Venice before meeting your private guide at the station. From here, take a boat into the center of Venice, traveling through the canals toward your accommodation as you get your first look at the city from the water.
After checking into your accommodation, begin exploring Venice on foot with your guide. Walk through narrow streets and canals before reaching Rialto Bridge, one of the city’s best-known landmarks.
The evening is left relaxed, allowing time for dinner beside the canals and a slower first evening in Venice.
Day 8: Murano & Burano Islands

Day 8 description
Today your private guide will take your family out into the Venetian Lagoon by private boat to visit Murano and Burano.
Start in Murano, where your family will visit a working glass workshop to watch Venetian glassmakers shaping and blowing glass by hand using traditional techniques that have been used on the island for generations.
Continue onward to Burano, where you’ll spend time walking through the island’s small streets, canals, bridges, and local cafés before returning to Venice later in the afternoon.
Day 9: Venice Family Day

Day 9 description
Today is designed to give your family more time to enjoy Venice without needing to rush between major sightseeing stops. Begin with a gondola ride through some of the smaller canals before continuing through quieter parts of the city with your guide.
The rest of the afternoon is flexible, so your family can spend more time walking through Venice, stopping for gelato, visiting local shops, or exploring more of the smaller canals and neighborhoods with your private guide.
Having an extra day in Venice also helps balance the pace of the trip before departure.
