Your day begins with a departure from Rome, either by private transfer or by first-class rail, into the Umbrian countryside. On arrival, a private transfer will take you up to the hilltop town of Assisi.

Your private guide will meet you at the station, or on site at the Church as your driver drops you off. The tour starts with a guided visit to the Basilica of St. Francis, one of Italy’s most important religious sites.
​Explore both the Upper and Lower Churches, where your guide will explain the fresco cycles by Giotto and other masters, as well as the life and legacy of St. Francis himself.

Assisi Historic Center: Medieval Town & Daily Life

Continue through Assisi’s historic center, where your guide will lead you along stone streets and into its main squares.
​Visit Piazza del Comune, home to the well-preserved Temple of Minerva, and learn how the town evolved from Roman origins into an important medieval center. Along the way, your guide will highlight local traditions, architecture, and viewpoints overlooking the Umbrian valley.
Following lunch, your private transfer will return you to your accommodation in Rome, or to the train station for your first-class rail journey back to Rome.
